6 Reactions to the Sign of Your Skin Experiencing Allergies to Beauty Products

Various skin care and cosmetic products that are on the rise, it is definitely interesting to try. However, it could be that the ingredients in it cause a reaction on your skin. What are the signs of an allergic reaction to skin care and cosmetic products on your skin?

1. Heat like burning / itching / feels like being stung

Some people have super sensitive skin, so the reaction appears as soon as the product is applied. This is actually good, you can know more quickly whether the product is suitable or not with your skin. Some sensations that appear as a sign of danger are burning sensations (or like being exposed to hot water and oil) accompanied by redness, itching that appears, or pain like being stung in the area where you apply the product. But unfortunately, in some people, this reaction appears only after use for some time, it can even occur when using skin care products that have been used for several months or years. Stop using the product immediately if you experience the reaction above.

2. The skin is tight as it is pulled

Usually this sensation arises after using skin care products, treatments, or using tools related to cleaning. For example after the use of a face scrub, facial cleansing soap, peeling (peeling treatment at the clinic or the use of toner / gel peeling products at home), the use of rinse masks, or the use of automatic brushes. If after using the skin feels dry, rough, shiny, and tight as it is pulled, this is a sign of the formula or the cleaning movement is too hard / drying for your skin.Stop using or consult further with your dermatologist before continuing to use. Do not let you injure and scrape the skin itself through the use of these products and treatments.

3. Color changes (redness or darkening) in certain areas

Using skin care and cosmetics on the face and body can also cause discoloration. It may be that you do not experience itching, heat, or changes in skin texture, but in certain areas suddenly a discoloration, reddish or discolored spots appear due to certain darkening parts of the skin. Be careful, this also becomes one of the signs of allergies on skin care or cosmetics that you use.

4. Swelling and rash

For some people, allergic reactions arise in the form of swelling and rashes (such as large bumps or small and multiple drops). For example, my mother whose face had swollen while painting hair (because it turned out she was allergic to the content in hair dye) or auntie whose lips would swell a little when wearing lipstick whose contents did not match the skin.So if you experience swelling or rash after using certain skin care products or cosmetics, immediately clean and stop using. However, if the reaction is severe, of course you should visit a dermatologist for further treatment.

5. Dry, flaking and scaly skin

Retinoids, AHA, BHA, PHA, hydroquinone (spot treatment) for the types of womb in skin care and cosmetics are being loved by manufacturers and consumers of beauty products. However, recognize it before use. Because the content and content of the skin are different, what is suitable for other people is not necessarily suitable for you. The use of skin care and cosmetics and a little drying (generally for oily and acne-prone skin) can cause a reaction after a few moments of use, namely dry, coarse scaly, and peeling skin in some parts is a sign of incompatibility of skin care products and your skin.Controlling oil and acne does not mean you sacrifice skin and make it dry, rough and scaly. Stop use and try to consult a dermatologist to deal with this condition.

6. Excessively oily skin than usual

In addition to making the skin become dehydrated and super dry, some skin care products can also cause a reaction in the form of excessive sebum / facial oil production than usual. If this happens, it could be a sign of an allergy to your skin care product.

So my advice, as much as possible try to do a patch test for skin care products before buying it. Go to the counter and apply the product to the back of the ear or the inside of the elbow, to see the reaction of your skin. Some beauty brands even provide sachet shapes or are willing to give 1-2 small spoons of sample if you carry a small container. When you have already bought and used, immediately clean your face with a gentle cleanser and use a moisturizer that you normally use to soothe the skin that is reacting. Even though it feels dear, it's better to stop using and selling / giving skin care to friends, than you compromise skin health.
